“Avg” is a rough national-average monthly take-home — not matched to your income.

How is it calculated?

From your gross pay minus any non-taxable amount, it subtracts (1) the employee share of the four social insurances — National Pension, Health, Long-term care, and Employment — and (2) income tax plus local income tax. Industrial-accident insurance is paid by your employer, so it isn’t deducted from you.

Under the simplified withholding method, more dependents and more children under 20 lower your income tax, and this tool approximates that effect. If you choose the flat 19% rate, deductions don’t apply.

Foreign workers may elect a flat 19% on total pay instead of the normal progressive table. It can work out better when your income is high or you have few deductions — press both buttons to compare your own case.

No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server or stored anywhere.

For example

On 3,600,000 KRW gross, with no non-taxable amount and 1 dependent, take-home is about 3,145,000 KRW. Adding a 200,000 KRW meal allowance as non-taxable nudges your take-home a little higher.

When to be careful

Whether severance and bonuses are included, and which items are non-taxable, change the monthly figure. This calculator is based on a single month’s pay.

Yes. National Pension has an upper limit on the income base, so the contribution stops rising above a certain income. This calculator reflects both the upper and lower limits.

The number of dependents, your non-taxable items, and the tax method you use all change take-home pay — even at the same gross salary.
